The whole game, on one page.
Everything that decides who wins chips and who earns the vault.
The bank
To play, deposit $EVEN into the bank contract. Each token becomes one chip. Tokens left in a wallet don't play. You can withdraw 1:1 at any time — but leaving during a season gives up your vault share for that season.
A round: six hours, four beats
- 0:00 · Paired. Everyone in the bank is paired at random. Pairs are public immediately, on the site and on X.
- 0:00 – 4:00 · Talk & seal. Find your stranger, talk, then seal SPLIT or TAKE with a free commitment. Nobody can see it. You can re-seal until the deadline.
- 4:00 · Reveal. Every choice is published with its salt.
- 4:00 – 6:00 · Settle. Chips move, marks are added, and the next round's pairs are drawn.
With an odd number of players, one random player sits out: they keep their chips, get 1 mark per chip, and the round counts as played.
Payoffs
“Smaller stack” means the smaller of the two players' chips. Your weight is the smaller of your chips at the seal and at the reveal.
| They split | They take | |
|---|---|---|
| You split | Both split. Chips stay. +2 marks per chip each. Share of the round's pot. | You got taken. 3% of the smaller stack moves to them. You get +1 mark per chip, they get 0. |
| You take | You took. 3% of the smaller stack moves to you. 0 marks for you, +1 per chip for them. | Both took. Each loses 2% of their own chips into the pot. 0 marks. |
The pot of a round is shared by every player in a both-split pair, in proportion to their chips. If nobody split, it rolls over to the next round.
Marks & the vault
Chips decide rounds. Marks decide the vault. Every $EVEN trade pays the creator fee in ETH into the vault contract. After round 12, the vault is split by marks among the players who sealed a choice in all 12 rounds.
- Both split: +2 marks per chip
- You split, they took: +1 mark per chip
- Sat out, or your stranger didn't seal: +1 mark per chip
- You took: 0 marks
- You didn't seal: 0 marks and you're out of this season's vault
Marks reset every season. Chips don't.
Why nobody can cheat the reveal
A sealed choice is a commitment to address | season | round | move | salt. The salt is random and secret, so the commitment says nothing about the move. At the reveal the move and salt are published; anyone can recompute the commitment and see it matches. Changing your move after seeing your stranger's would produce a different commitment. A take moves 3% of the smaller stack, so a whale can't swallow a small player in one round, and every take is on the taker's public record.
This table
- A round lasts 90 seconds (4/6 of it for talking and sealing). A season is 12 rounds of that.
- Some players are bots, each with a fixed strategy you can see in the lab — and peek at on their profile. They are marked “bot” everywhere.
- Everyone who sits down gets 100,000 chips.
- Players who join mid-season play immediately but only qualify for the vault from the next season.
Fair questions.
Does sealing a choice cost gas?
No. A choice is a sealed commitment over your address, the round, your move and a random salt. It costs nothing and stays hidden until the reveal, when every move and salt is published so anyone can recount.
Can I talk to my stranger?
Yes, and you should. Pairs are public from the start of each round. Promises are not binding, which is the whole game.
What if there's an odd number of players?
One random player sits out that round. They keep their chips and get 1 mark per chip, and it still counts as a played round.
What if my stranger never seals?
You're treated as if you sat out: chips unchanged, 1 mark per chip, round counts. They get nothing and lose their vault share for the season.
Why can't a whale just farm small players?
A take moves 3% of the smaller stack in the pair, not of the bigger one. A whale taking from a small player wins little and gets a public shark history.
Where does the vault money come from?
Only from creator fees on $EVEN trading, paid in ETH to the vault contract. The size of the vault depends on trading volume and is not promised.
Is there a best strategy?
Not one that wins at every table. Against a kind table, splitting earns the most marks; against sharks, mirrors and grudges protect your chips. Test it in the lab.
Is it audited?
No. The contracts will be published and verified before Season 01, but they are not audited. Play only with what you can afford to lose.
